Position Summary
The Workspace Engineer is responsible for assisting in the designing, implementing, and supporting of the technology infrastructure for employee workspaces. This includes maintaining, optimizing, and supporting hardware, software, and collaboration tools across various environments (in-office, remote, hybrid). The role involves ensuring that employees have a reliable, secure, and efficient workspace experience by delivering solutions that enhance productivity and foster collaboration while ensuring the IT infrastructure meets organizational needs.

Responsibilities:
Workspace Infrastructure Management:
· Assist in design activities, Lead implementation activities, and maintain IT infrastructure that supports end-user workspaces, including desktops, laptops, mobile devices, and virtual desktop environments (VDI).
· Ensure that IT systems, software, and hardware are properly configured and optimized for a seamless user experience.
· Manage operating systems, software installations, and updates across various devices and platforms (Windows, macOS, Linux, mobile).
End-User Support & Troubleshooting:
· Provide technical support to end-users, addressing hardware, software, network, and performance issues related to workspaces.
· Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in a timely manner to minimize downtime and ensure a productive work environment.
· Act as the first point of escalation for support tickets related to workspace environments.
Workspace Security & Compliance:
· Implement and maintain security policies, tools, and protocols to protect the workspace environment and data.
· Ensure devices and applications comply with company security standards, including encryption, firewalls, antivirus, and data loss prevention solutions.
· Work closely with the IT security team to monitor and address potential vulnerabilities or breaches in workspace technology.
Collaboration & Productivity Tools:
· Support and maintain collaboration tools (e.g., Microsoft 365, Zoom, Slack, Teams, etc.) to ensure they function seamlessly and integrate well within the IT ecosystem.
· Assist in the rollout and adoption of new collaboration tools, ensuring employees are trained and supported in using the tools effectively.
· Troubleshoot and resolve issues with communication and collaboration platforms.
Workspace Automation & Optimization:
· Develop automation solutions to streamline the provisioning and configuration of workspaces, reducing manual intervention and enhancing productivity.
· Collaborate with teams to identify areas for continuous improvement and automation within the workspace environment.
· Participate in regularly assessing and optimize the performance of the IT infrastructure to ensure peak efficiency and minimal disruption.
Device and Asset Management:
· Oversee the deployment, inventory, and lifecycle management of hardware devices, including laptops, desktops, mobile devices, and peripherals.
· Ensure that all devices are properly configured, documented, and ready for employee use, whether in-office or remote.
· Assist in the implementation of Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) policies and solutions.
Virtual and Hybrid Workspace Support:
· Implement and support virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) solutions, ensuring that remote workers have secure and efficient access to their workspaces.
· Support hybrid working models by providing solutions that seamlessly integrate remote and office-based workspaces.
· Assist with configuring and maintaining cloud-based environments that support virtual workspaces and collaboration.
Documentation and Reporting:
· Maintain up-to-date documentation of workspace configurations, processes, and procedures.
· Provide regular reports on the performance, security, and usage of workspace technologies to management.
· Create user guides, troubleshooting documentation, and knowledge base articles to assist employees in using workspace tools effectively.

Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
· Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Windows Server, VMware, or similar IT certifications are a plus.
· 3+ years of experience in IT infrastructure, desktop support, or workspace management.
· Experience with deploying, configuring, and maintaining workstations, laptops, and other endpoint devices.
· Familiarity with collaboration tools (e.g., Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Slack, etc.) and virtual desktop environments (e.g., VMware Horizon, Citrix).
· Experience with cloud services (e.g., Microsoft Azure, AWS, Google Workspace) is a plus.
· Strong understanding of operating systems (Windows, macOS, Linux) and the ability to troubleshoot and configure them for enterprise environments.
· Familiarity with endpoint management and device lifecycle tools (e.g., Intune, SCCM, Jamf).
· Ability to automate and optimize workspace configurations using scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Bash).
· Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact effectively with end users and teams.
· Good problem-solving abilities, with a focus on delivering timely solutions.

Physical Requirements:
· Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on the computer.
· Occasional liftin pushing, pulling up to 15 lbs.
· Hybrid position – in office and remote workdays.
